MA’AN (BE)
Maan Methven (°1994, Brussels) studied audiovisual arts at the School of Arts in Ghent. Both in her visual and compository sound work she feels driven towards the realm right under the surface of the everyday real; a realm that is alive and breathing. Susceptible to dark dreams, river murmur, the sound of scream, wind, aggression, desire, salty air in the voice - she is on a search of how these elements of fascination can evoke deeper hidden harmonies. Harmonies that stem from a vitality - the fact of being alive - that in the first place is miraculous. Whether it is word, image or sound she is using, there is always the desire to knead, to sculpt, to touch; the desire to retrieve tactility, sensitivity, the visceral.
