Krista Papista (CY)
Berlin-based Cypriot performer/composer and producer Krista offers a musical performance that attempts to resurrect the myth of the “bell ringer” ritual practiced by peasant witches in Cyprus and the Aegean islands. Carrying the bells of their lost sheep, they roam the mountain villages during the days of carnival which represent the release of the dark spirits of winter to welcome the rebirth of spring. Wherever the custom was lost, the transmission was done verbally and through drawings. Papista's performance attempts to re-enact this tradition as a snippet from her latest album "Fucklore" which was released on Vinyl in 2023.
