ALEXI SHELL (FR)
Alexi Shell is an artist who swims between music and performance.
I listened to her in 2021 after the 2nd lockdown, when Athens was reborn from the ashes after a long silence and a harsh Covid winter.
She played techno, 90s dance sounds with such dynamics in the mountains of Elefsina that I wanted to invite her here to perform at Recyclart.Techno, ambient and experimental producer, Alexi Shell has already released a first EP in December 2020: I wish I was a mermaid, and a single in February 2022: The Spell.
Through her musical and scenic universe, she pays tribute to marginalised people and weaves a fairy tale of struggle and love that is both dark and dreamlike. Her spellbinding atmospheres take us on a journey to meet the mermaids, sea witches, whom she places as protectors of the most fragile. Having lived in Athens, she creates a world where mythical tales and ambient music coexist. Where her music swings between bewitching softness and violence, she delivers DJ sets that navigate between techno, gabber and incantatory club melodies.
